DIY Robotic Blimp Construction Challenge New Recruits

DIY Robotic Blimp Construction Challenge for New Recruits is a competition held by team SPARX GMU at George Mason University. The competition is to encourage people interested in being a part of the team to get first-hand experience of building their own blimp and figuring out dynamic properties and the challenges involved in the process.

The participants were provided with in-house developed pre-tested blimp robot kits with all the required components. There were 4 different designs among the 6 kits given. The participants assembled the given kits and got the blimps to fly. They have participated in 3 different competitions. The first one is a straight line test, the second test is an obstacle course and the final test is the race with all the participants flying their robots at the same time. For more details on the competition please look at the document attached.

The participants were of various age groups, from master's students to middle school students. It was an educative but fun-packed contest.
