2nd Place for GMU's SPARX Patriot Pilots in 99++ LuftBalloons NOV 2020

99++ Luft Balloons November 2020 being the inaugural event and very unique challenge of playing a soccer-like game in the air, the teams did not know what to expect. As mentioned in the rules, teams can have any number of pilots and any number of blimps robots on the field. GMU's Patriot Pilots attended the event with a team of 5 including the P.I.

The competition had a league stage where every team plays with every other team and the two teams with the highest and second-highest cumulative of goals played the finals. GMU racked up a whopping 36 goals in the league stage whereas the second-best was 16 goals by Penn State ARL. Both the teams made it into the finals and had a fun battle. GMU had suffered some technical issues in the first half of the finals where only a couple of blimps were airborne and after the damage was inflected one of their blimps the blimps things only got worse. Still, up to the challenge, GMU equaled Penn State's goals which ended up at 10-10 full time. This leads the teams into sudden death in which they were outperformed by Penn State who rose victorious.
